This covers three blocks of learning that will walk you through the core information and skills you require to be an effective homelessness officer. We start with an introduction to homelessness itself and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 before considering applications and assessments from individuals and household who are or at risk of becoming homeless. We complete this part of the course by covering the processes and assessments needed to award a Prevention or Relief Duty.

This section of the course will significantly develop your ability to address homelessness. We look in detail at Temporary Accommodation and the processes and procedures of Interim Duty, Referrals and Priority Need. We also set out what the Main Duty and Other Duties are and how to apply them alongside a comprehensive examination of the legislative framework underpinning Intentional Homelessness.

This section rounds off the full course and delivers the final blocks of learning that will help you become a highly accomplished homelessness officer. We take you through the techniques and tips to enable you to prepare and deliver sensitive interviews. We also do a deep delve into casework management and decision-making, putting prevention casework into practice and  the assessment of applications to a councils housing register.

Take a look at the overview and curriculum to find out what is covered in each of the Blocks.
